Howdy! 

The music you hear on my show every week is the music that I love.

I love the whole gamut; Twangy Country, Hillbilly Boppers, Galloping Western Swing, Shimmery American Standards, Sultry Jazz Vocalists, Frantic Jump Blues, Heartbroken Teen Pop, and Diabolical Instrumentals. When I was a kid, it was the 1980’s and Suburban Philadelphia had 2 oldies radio stations that played music of the 40’s thru 60’s, (before changing formats in the mid 90’s). My little yellow radio was always on, even bungie-corded to the handlebars of my sweet bike from time to time.   

Music has always been around me and has always played an important role in my life.  

I hope you are reading this because you too love old music and enjoy Hoot 'N Howl!   I am so proud to have been on the air at XRAY.FM from the very start of the station.  It has been SEVEN years of weekly shows and I still absolutely love being on the air and sharing the music and factoids with you. 

The DJ’s at XRAY have been creating their shows from home since March of 2020.  I now use a laptop and editing software to create my shows and I record my microphone parts with a blanket over my head.    It’s not the same but it still feels fun to share the music with all of you.   I do a lot of other volunteer tasks for the station including writing and voicing underwriting segments (carts), and anything else that I can do to help the staff.  Many people have reached out and told us at XRAY that we have really helped them through the dark and strange year we have all experienced and how much they appreciate that the music and talk has continued on. 

I am proud of XRAY FM for acheiving so many of the goals we set forth back in the day, and I am even more proud of the station for the work we have done in the past year to support our listeners by providing information and entertainment during an increasingly isolating and turbulant time.   I believe in XRAY and I hope you do too. 

In a media landscape that is owned by 3 conglomerates all obeying the same tired programming formats, reloading the same lame playlist, and letting algorithms and robot DJ’s play you for an idiot.  XRAY FM brings you the voices and sounds of your actual neighbors.  

Hoot ‘N Howl is unapologetically OLDIES. 

I embrace all that is within this musical history for all of it’s weird and wonderful sounds, musicianship, breakthroughs in production, and often insane lyrics.    A pre-Beatles purge occured on mainstream radio many many years ago and Hoot 'N Howl is one of the only places on the FM dial that you can hear the real deal oldies, even the sad songs and even the slow songs.
